Two Russian Federation naval vessels in Valletta Port

Two Russian Federation naval vessels from the Baltic Fleet, RFS Yaroslav Mudryy (727) and RFS Lena, have sailed into Valletta Port (the Grand Harbour) this morning on a four-day courtesy visit.

RFS Yaroslav Mudryy is a Neustrashimyy class (Project 1154) frigate, commissioned in the Russian Navy on June 21, 2009. RFS Lena is an Uda class (Project 577) replenishment tanker, commissioned in the Russian Navy in December 1966.

RFS Yaroslav Mudryy and RFS Lena are currently berthing alongside at Pinto-3 and Pinto-4/5 wharves respectively. The Russian frigate has one Kamov Ka-27 helicopter on board, serial 28 'Yellow'. Both vessels are expected to sail from Malta on Sunday, January 13, at 1130lt and 1200lt respectively.
