AFM commissions two inshore patrol boats donated by U.S. government

Two new Defender-Class inshore patrol boats and their towing vehicles have been officially inaugurated. The new assets were donated by the U.S. government. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, U.S. ambassador G. Abercrombie-Winstanley said the boats had saved 3,000 lives and the U.S. was thrilled to support Malta as it continue this important work.

Home Affairs Minister M. Mallia said this was another occasion that reinforced the long standing relationship between two nations. Although very different in size and geographical positions, Malta and the U.S converged on a number of points mainly the will to have a free society deep-roots in democratic principles and a nation that provided the necessary safety and security for its people.
