Malta's AirX to begin freight operations with B737(F)s

AirX Charter is entering the cargo market airline chairman J. Matthews has announced. The Malta-based passenger charter specialist has already acquired three B737-300(F)s, the first of which, M-MOVE (msn 23708), is undergoing repainting before beginning operations during the last quarter of the year.

Matthews says the plan is to offer two aircraft to the charter market with a third to be used for ad-hoc charters and back-up to support the fleet at
Bournemouth.

"I aim to have the aircraft approved on the AOC around about the third/fourth week of October, when the first aircraft will enter service. The second will be online approximately in the second week of November," he said in a statement.

Overall, AirX expects to acquire a further two B737 freighters next year bringing its overall compliment to five by year-end. Widebody aircraft are also under consideration, Matthews added.

Some of the aircraft will also be placed on the AOC of its newest acquisition,
Elite Air (USA) (renamed AirX America), for use in the US cargo market. (Source: ch-aviation.com, 4-Sep-2016)
